05 Mar Ceremony Launch of Drought Relief Project at the King Salman Humanitarian and Relief Center
Today happened Inauguration Ceremony of the King Salman Humanitarian and Relief Center for the Drought Affected People in Somalia.
The food distribution project of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was officially inaugurated by FGS Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Mohamed. Gulaid and the FGS Minister of humanitarian and Disaster Management Hon. Khadija Mohamed Diriye who is also the Chairperson of the National Drought Relief Committee.
The food distribution project will benefit 42,360 drought-affected families in the country.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Director General of the Ministry of humanitarian and Disaster Management Mr. Ahmed Abukar Ahmed, members of the National Drought Relief Committee, Local Organizations, the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Somalia Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Muwalad, Head of the King Salman Humanitarian and Relief Center and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN-OCHA – WFP).
Deputy Prime Minister Avv. Mahdi Mohamed Guled thanked our brotherly Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and King Salman Foundation for their brotherly support to the people affected by the drought in Somalia at a time of severe drought in our country.
