04 Jun Director General of the Ministry of humanitarian launches workshop on strengthening the capacity of the National muilt-harzard early warning Center
The Director General of the Ministry of humanitarian affairs and Disaster Management – MoHADM Mr. Ahmed Abukar Ahmed (Ahmedwali) today launched a workshop on strengthening the capacity of the National muilt-harzard early warning Center with the help of Geographic Information System ) – GIS will run for five days 04 – 08 June 2022.
This training builds on the knowledge of the staff of the National Disaster Risk Management Center on how to manage recurring disasters in Somalia.
The training will benefit the staff of the Ministry of humanitarian affairs and disaster Management – MoHADM especially the staff of the National Multi-hazard Early Warning Center as part of the Department of Disaster Risk Management to develop their knowledge and skills.
Khadar Sheikh Mohamed Nur, Director of Disaster Risk Management at the Ministry of humanitarian affairs and disaster management, said such training was much needed and would be expanded.
The Director General of the Ministry of Relief and MM, Mr. Ahmed-wali, who inaugurated the workshop, praised the training organized by the Disaster Risk Management Department to enhance the knowledge and skills of the staff of the Center.
The Director General also advised the staff participating in the training to take advantage of this opportunity and fulfill their responsibility to work with the knowledge they acquire at all times.
The training is coordinated by Sida – Styrelsen för Internationellt Utvecklingssamarbete AND UNDP in Somalia, which regularly supports the ministry in training and equipping the National Multi-hazard Early Warning Center of the Ministry of Relief and Disaster Management.
