Minister Khadija Meets with Turkish Ambassador to Somalia Mehmet Yalmaz

On 31st January, The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management met with  a delegation led by Turkish Ambassadorto Somalia Mehmet Yalmaz.

During the Meeting, Hon. Khadija, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, thanked Turkey for its sincere and friendly assistance to Somalia, and expressed that the Turkish Government had provided humanitarian food and nutrition assistance to Somalia, helped the Somali people affected by drought and flood disasters.

In the Meeting, Her Excellency Hon. Khadija reiterated that two sister country’ relations deepened substantially following the 2011 famine which Turkey provided a humanitarian aid to hundreds of thousands whom have been affected by the catastrophic famine that claimed the lives of a nearly quarter million Somalis.

Ambassador Yalmiz said that Turkey and Somalia enjoy a long friendship and the cooperation between the two countries in various fields has been achieved fruitful results since the establishment of diplomatic relations. Turkey firmly supports the peaceful development in Somalia and has made unremitting efforts to this end. While carrying out the task of poverty alleviation in depth, Turkey has actively provided assistance to Somalia within its capabilities, demonstrating the responsibility of Turkey as the major responsible country and the brotherly relationship between the two peoples.
