31 Jul MoHADM signs US$ 34.8 million grant agreement with African Development Bank
On the 31st July, in Nairobi, the MoHADM has signed an agreement of US$ 34.8 million with The African Development Bank (AfDB) under the Bank’s ‘Say No to Famine – Short Term Regional Emergency Response Project (STRERP)’. This project targets 804,000 individuals in Somalia with direct medical assistance, water and food to meet the immediate hardships faced by people affected by the drought. In addition, the project includes activities to add in place the preliminary building blocks to strengthen links between communities. The project is for a total duration of 12 months.
Maryan Qasim, Somalia’s Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, who signed on behalf of the Federal Government of Somalia, said; “I would like to extend my gratitude to AfDB for their generosity and for the continued support to the drought response through this substantial grant.
