13 Oct PM Khaire and Minister Hamza laid the foundation stone for National Emergency Operations Center.
The Prime Minister of Federal Government of Somalia H.E Hassan Ali Khaire together with Minster of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management H.E Hamza Said Hamza laid the foundation stone of the construction of National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC).
The center will provide a central coordination point in response to disasters and for coordination of humanitarian assistance. It will also provide early warning and prepare a contingency plan for flood, drought, conflict and cyclones and other disasters and update these regularly, in partnership with the other state institutions, Somalia Red Crescent Society (SRCS, which is an auxiliary institution of the Federal Government of Somalia), UN agencies and NGOs.
In his opening speech H.E P.M Khaire said “The launch of Emergency Operations Center coincides with the second anniversary since the infamous 14 October, 2017 terror attack, and will enhance our national preparedness in responding to both natural and manmade disasters”.
“The laying down of NEOC is a sign that Somalia is learning about its past history.” The PM added.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management H.E Hamza Said Hamza reiterated the commitment of MoHADM to foster the Resilience of Somali People.
“To lay down the construction of National Emergency Operation Center is a very huge milestone for our Ministry, it is also one of two key milestones on which the ministry has been working on lately. NEOC will serve Somalia people.” Said H.E Hamza Said Hamza, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.
