The Ministry of Humanitarian has created a new working group – Pillar Working Group

In September 2017, the MoHADM took initiative to arrange the first Resilience Pillar Working Group (PWG), in Mogadishu. The aim of this PWG is to be a coordination body and a channel for the donors, national and international partners and the Government where available resources for implementation and planned resilience activities are coordination through the PWG.

The Resilience PWG is newly created group and both federal and state level institutions are members of it. The MoHADM’s Permanent Secretary, Mohamed Moallim, and the Head of Resilience, Infrastructure and Social Sectórs at European Union Delegation to Somalia, Susanne Martin, both coMchaired the first meeting.

Moallim made statement about the significance of this initial meeting, disaster management and way forward. He spoke about the Terms of Reference’s (ToR), objectives, roles and responsibilities of the working group. Resilience is a key pillar of the National Development Plan (NDP), which is continuation of the New Deal Compact.

Suzzane Martin, the donor coMlead, made brief remarks about the ToR, any changes required and suggested that ideas should be collected and submitted within a week for discussion.

Participants discussed overall resilience, and some of them made various comment particularly about youth at risk and creating job opportunity. The PWG members
